Spring rock removal, abseil inspection Nevis Bluff

25 October 2018

Spring rock removal, abseil inspection Nevis Bluff, SH6, between Cromwell and Queenstown to mid-November

People who use the road between Cromwell and Queenstown, State Highway 6, may spot rock debris from abseil scaling at the Nevis Bluff from Monday, 29 October.

People will need to build in extra time on their journeys as delays will be inevitable for around three weeks to mid-November, says Mark Stewart, Maintenance Contract Manager, NZ Transport Agency.

The work is part of on-going safety and monitoring of the Nevis Bluff, involving abseil inspection and rock scaling to remove loose debris, as well as some minor blasting work.

Dates and times of blasting will be advised to nearby Gibbston residents as work progresses.

The Nevis Bluff is about half way between Cromwell and Queenstown – 25 minutes from Cromwell, 35 minutes from Queenstown.
