Catch Rain While You Still Can!

Wairarapa’s three district councils are encouraging residents to take advantage of heavily subsidised rainwater collection tanks and collect rain before the inevitable summer dry spell and water restrictions.

The 200 litre tanks are available for the same price of $125 throughout October from Carterton, Masterton, and South Wairarapa district councils. The tanks each come with a connection kit.

The tanks enable rainwater to be collected for use in the garden, or with appropriate treatment for household use in an emergency, Masterton District Council’s Three Waters Operations and Transition Manager Steve Watt said.

“There is no question that all councils may once again be forced to introduce water restrictions this summer, and these tanks are a great way to make use of water that is literally falling from sky – before it stops doing that,” he said.

Check council websites for further water conservation tips.

Tanks are available for sale at the following locations:

Carterton: 28 Holloway Road, Carterton.

Masterton: 161 Queen Street, Masterton.

Martinborough: Martinborough Library, Texas Street, Martinborough.
