$300 Cost Of Exercising Dog From Vehicle
A dog owner is paying the cost of exercising their four-legged friend from a moving vehicle in public, following a change to Masterton's Control of Dogs bylaw in June, outlawing the activity.
They have been issued a $300 infringement notice. A second owner has received a warning for the behaviour after responding to contact from the Council.
The activity is not only dangerous because owners must be in control of dogs at all times in public, but also poses a risk to dogs from other traffic, and causes a potential distraction for other drivers.
Anyone noticing such activity should report it to the Council, including the registration of the vehicles involved.
