Updated Fuel Stock Data Is Available On The MBIE Website
- Fuel importers have provided good confidence through confirmed orders to late June, with planned orders extending into early August.
- The latest data (as at 11.59pm on 10 May) shows petrol stocks at 59.0 days’ supply, diesel stocks at 45.2 days, and jet fuel stocks at 50.2 days.
- Since the last update, petrol stocks have increased by 8.0 days, diesel stocks have increased by 0.9 of a day, and jet fuel stocks have decreased by 3.9 days.
- The significant increase in petrol stocks is due to several large shipments that have recently embarked for New Zealand.
- After recent high stock volumes, jet fuel stocks are now being drawn down.
- These movements reflect the usual shipping patterns and routine variations, and are consistent with what we would expect to see even without the conflict in the Middle East.
