Road Works And Closures
Road users are encouraged to use alternate routes where possible and we’ll do our best to keep any delays to a minimum. Traffic management may be in place to make sure road users, including people on bikes and pedestrians, can navigate these areas safely while work is under way. Works and dates are subject to change based on factors such as wet weather and staff availability.
Residents, pedestrians and people on bikes will continue to have access unless specified below.
Events
Various streets – road closures
The below streets will be closed on Friday 15 May for the Chiefs vs Highlands Super Rugby game.
Closed from 2pm – 11pm:
- Abbotsford Street (from Willoughby Street to Tristram Street)
- Tristram Street (from Abbotsford Street to Mill Street).
Closed from 6pm – 11pm:
- Seddon Road (from Goldsmith Street to Norton Road)
- Mill Street (from Norton Road to Willoughby Street)
- Liverpool Street (from Tristram Street to Vialou Street)
- Tristram Street (from Mill Street to Rostrevor Street).
Ongoing works/delays
Howell Avenue – road closure
Howell Avenue (from Cobham Drive to Johnsview Terrace) remains closed Monday – Friday until Friday 5 June, from 7am – 3pm for a footpath, kerb and channel renewal.
Torrington Avenue – road closure
Access to Torrington Avenue from Norton Road remains closed until Sunday 7 June from 7am – 6pm for a watermain upgrade. Access to Torrington Road via Taniwha Street remains open.
Ward Street – lane closure
Ward Street (from Victoria Street to Worley Place) remains closed in a single direction until Friday 28 August for development works on the Pullman Hotel.
Grey Street – lane closure
The northbound lane of Grey Street (from Anzac Parade to Te Aroha Street) remains closed at various times from 8pm – 5am until June for a watermain upgrade.
Maeroa Road – delays
Traffic delays are expected along Maeroa Road (from Ulster Street to Victoria Street) from 7pm – 6am daily until 26 June for an intersection upgrade.
Wairere Drive and Karewa Place intersection – delays
Traffic delays through the Wairere Drive and Karewa Place intersection are expected until end of July for an intersection upgrade.
