Wellingtonians Slow In Attending Diana Exhibition

The Worlds of Wellington Trust Incorporated & The People's Princess Charitable Foundation `Dresses for Humanity' An Exhibition of the Dresses of Diana, Princess of Wales. With less than three weeks left in Southern Hemisphere, the Dresses for Humanity, the exhibition of the dresses of Diana Princess of Wales has attracted more out-of-towners than those from Wellington itself.

Worlds of Wellington Trust Chairman Phil Sprey reports that nearly 70% of the thousands who have visited the event have come from throughout the country and internationally and not from the Capital. This includes a high number from Australia's East Coast who have travelled specifically to see the once-in-a-lifetime event.

`Wellingtonians have been caught a little, thinking there is plenty of time left but September 3 is definitely the last day.'

The exhibition which has been on since the end of June and is exclusive to Wellington has attracted an estimated eighteen and a half ($18,500,000) million dollars of tourism and associated industry income into the city's economy over the period and has proven to be the biggest draw card of it's type ever.

Sprey says that once the penny drops with the local population a sudden rush of visitors is expected and contingency plans to open longer hours are in place to cater for this.
