Logan Swanns Into Warriors For Christmas

Signing Completes Squad Line Up

Auckland, New Zealand, 22 December 2000 – The Warriors have closed out 2000 by adding second rower and Kiwi international, Logan Swann, to the club’s 2001 roster.
Swann, who returned to New Zealand this week to meet with Warriors General Manager, Mick Watson, has signed a two year deal (with a one year option) that will see him add presence, mobility and big game strike power to the club’s forward pack.
Originally signed to the Auckland Warriors as an 18-year-old in 1994, Swann (25) has become one of the club’s most consistent performers since stepping into the first grade side in 1997.
“Logan’s record speaks for itself,” said Watson. “He’s a proven NRL performer and has been an international since 1996. We’re delighted to have him in the squad. He’ll be a key weapon in the 2001 season and we’ve tagged him as a major force in the club’s future development.
“While we always regarded his playing highly, we determined not to rush any negotiation. Instead we waited patiently until he and I could sit down and talk face to face. I wanted Logan to see what the club is all about before signing. In return I wanted his full commitment to helping build the club into a powerhouse over the next three years.”
“I like what I’ve seen at the club since I got back from the UK,” said Swann. “There’s a good positive attitude. The guys are training hard. And I’m very impressed with what Coach Daniel Anderson has been doing. Come February this will be a competitive team.”

Swann’s signing completes the Club’s 2001 roster, with twenty-six players named.
ENDS.
