Penguin Books (N.Z.) Limited
The Irish former school teacher and author, Eoin Colfer, who secured the largest-ever advance for a children’s novel by an unknown writer with Artemis Fowl, commences his a weeklong nationwide tour of New Zealand today.
Published this month, Artemis Fowl topped the NZ Bestseller list last week. (source Booksellers NZ).
“We haven’t seen a book that appeals so much to boys and is as popular as Artemis Fowl in over a decade” says Tony Harkins, Managing Director, Penguin Books New Zealand.
Inevitable comparisons have been made to Harry Potter, but Puffin is confident that the same readership, who are now hooked on the fantasy genre will find something new and exciting in Artemis Fowl.
Film rights for Artemis Fowl have already been bought by Miramax for a seven-figure sum.
Eoin will be visiting Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in the middle of the school holiday break and taking part in a series of public events.
