Kiwi Betting And TV Coverage For Creek’s US Race
The next race in champion Kiwi trotter Lyell Creek’s US campaign will be shown live on TAB Trackside this weekend – and New Zealanders will also be able to bet on the race.
Creek “The Freak”, who finished in a deadheat for third in the Titan Cup on June 29 at the Meadowlands in New Jersey, will make his next start on Saturday (NZT) at the same track in the elimination races for the US$500,000 Nat Ray on August 5.
Lyell Creek’s heat will be shown on Trackside early on Saturday afternoon. And in another bonus for Kiwi harness fans, Trackside will also show the feature race live from Meadowlands, the $US1 million Meadowlands Pace, on Sunday afternoon.
The New Zealand TAB will offer betting on both races over the weekend.
Meadowlands Vice President and General Manager Chris McErlean said there was huge interest in the weekend’s races.
“The Meadowlands Pace is the world's richest pacing event and with pacing races being so popular Down Under it should be a draw,” he said.
“The presence of Lyell Creek this summer has added
another dimension to interest in the Meadowlands races in
Australasia, and we have been inundated with media interest
on that horse's performances at the
Meadowlands.”
