Unlucky Day For Tim Mascalzone Latino

PRESS RELEASE
UNLUCKY DAY FOR TIM MASCALZONE LATINO IN THE THIRD RACE OF LVC
Auckland, 5th October 2002 Another fresh southwesterly and shifty wind for the third race of the Louis Vuitton Cup: it has been an unlucky day for ‘TIM Mascalzone Latino’ racing with the ‘Swiss-Kiwi-team of ‘Alinghi’.
As a matter of fact during starting operations the team headed by Vincenzo Onorato had an accident that prevented the team with starting regularly.
About two minutes from the starting gun, explained tactician Flavio Favini at the press conference, the starboard runner got stuck with the TV camera box and stand: at that time no more manouvre (tacking or Gybing) could be possible any more and making the boat wasting a lot of time. Adding to theese problems on the starting line ‘TIM Mascalzone Latino’ also blew out a spinnaker just seconds after hoisting it on the last downwind leg.
Tomorrow same weather forecast of today with a southwesterly wind 16-22 knots blowing over race area.
‘TIM Mascalzone Latino’ will be again on the Tv thanks tto the agreement between Italian TV company RAI and Swedish TV holder of tv rghts for the Swedish team ‘Orn’: the airing will start one our before due to the summer time startin in New Zealand.
Mascalzone Latino and its team are racing with the TIM colours, the only mobile telephone company entirely Italian and sole sponsor for this all-Italian challenge.
Mascalzone Latino and its team can be visited at the internet site: www.mascalzonelatino.it
