People Will “Flip” Over New Wine Guide

A revolutionary new guide to New Zealand Vineyards, Wines and Winemakers has just been released on CD-ROM by the Christchurch based company The Grape Taste of New Zealand.

Titled “The Grape Taste of New Zealand”, the guide has been developed with the assistance of the Winemakers and Vineyards of New Zealand and covers over 380 vineyards.

Marie and Nigel Hanson, authors of the guide and company owners, have spent nearly 12 months developing the guide which they know will have wide appeal.

Information for the guide was obtained directly from the vineyards of New Zealand in order to give the vineyards a unique opportunity to deliver their individual stories.

The guide is displayed as a book on screen with the reader able to flip the pages and refer to the Contents and Index just like a traditional book.

The addition of linked information within the guide as well as web and email links makes this both an entertaining and powerful resource for both the novice and experienced wine drinker.

“Our aim has been to develop a guide that focuses on the people and places behind the labels just as much as the wines themselves” said Mr Hanson.

“We’ve tried to give people background information about the vineyards that they may not normally find out. An example would be how Sam Neill named his vineyard – Sam explained to us in his survey that his ‘Two Paddocks’ vineyard was originally named after his and Roger Donaldson’s vineyard which are located next door to each other.”
