Waitangi Specials On National Maori Radio
National Maori language radio news service Ruia Mai will broadcast extended morning and night current affairs shows dedicated to Waitangi Day commemorations this Thursday, February 6.
Te Kowae Paneke (6am-8am) and Te Kawe Purongo (7pm-8pm) will include news reports from Waitangi in the Bay of Islands and Murihiku in the South Island as well as other events from throughout the country.
The hourly news bulletins, Nga Rangona Korero (7am-7pm), will also include breaking news on Waitangi Day activities such as speeches and protests.
Coverage includes:
- an extended two-hour live edition of Te Kowae Paneke from 6am to 8am presented by Ruia Mai political editor Shane Taurima and including reports from Waitangi at the National Marae and Te Tii Marae; from the main commemorations in Te Waipounamu (South Island); from other Waitangi Day events; and from a reporter accompanying the Prime Minister and Governor-General;
- edited highlights of Te Kowae Paneke from 10am to 11am;
- a one-hour live edition of Te Kawe
Purongo from 7pm-8pm summarising Waitangi Day news from
throughout the country.
