Leaping Leprechauns It’s St Paddy’s Day!
Lads and lasses of all ages are invited to join in the green activities of Auckland Museum when we celebrate St Patrick’s Day on Sunday 16th March.
As part of Auckland’s St Patrick’s Festival, a fun-packed Living Treasures Day will see traditional Irish music, dance and events await even those without a drop of Irish blood in their veins.
The Blacksmith Duo will set the scene, with their traditional Celtic jigs guaranteed to get the toe tapping, followed by popular dance group, the Katherine Kelly Irish Dance Company, with a rousing performance of Irish folk dancing.
Educational talks from Dr Malcolm Campbell and John Dearing will brush up your knowledge of Irish history, language and culture, and Auckland Museum history curator, Rose Young, will host a session on Irish heritage.
There’s plenty to do for the kids with craft activities, educational trails and website sessions. Body artist, Jo Cowin, will be on-hand with plenty of green paint and imagination for those who really want to get in the mood!
Admission by usual donation. Children are free.
