Is it origami with pantyhose?
The women artists showing in this exhibition were given no theme and no direction regarding what sort to work to contribute. The only common thread linking these artists together is that of gender and their drive to create. Perhaps it is interesting to wonder if art created by women has a fundamental difference to art created by men.
Can a viewer sense the gender of the artist from the artwork? When trying to predict the gender of an artist, what do we consider are the clues?
In this exhibition we are showcasing a diversity of work created by women artists, we have secretly interwoven the art work of a male. Can you spot the cat amongst the pigeons?
And finally one has to
ask, does our interpretation of an art work change with the
revelation of the creators
gender?
