Oceania Rollersports Championships Venue Announcement
The New Plymouth Rollersports Club advise that they have been successful in tendering for the the Oceania Rollersport Championships to be held in April 2004. The championships are governed by the International Federation of Rollerskating (FIRS).
The Championships in Artistic, Speed, Precision and Inline Hockey are open to skaters and teams from all countries affiliated with F.I.R.S. including New Zealand and Australia.
The championship will be open to other countries affiliated to FIRS from the Pacific area, and others may be invited to participate by the organisers with the aim of improving skating standards in the Pacific and Asian areas.
The venues to be used within Taranaki will be the newly completed indoor rollersports arena at East End Reserve for inline and roller hockey, the TSB Stadium for artistic and precision skating and the Taranaki Kart Club facility in Waitara for speed skating.
Over 300 international representative competitors from Australia and New Zealand will converge on New Plymouth in April 2004 for the 10 day championships.
