At last, a book that lifts the lid on the Bain killings of 1994! The big mystery was NEVER IF David Bain slaughtered his family that June morning BUT WHY. Now we have a book that fills in gaps and uncovers the deeper, darker reasons why a family was rent by guilt.
After her painting of David Bain caused a city councillor to attempt to censor her exhibition, artist Judith Wolfe chose to research the evidence to satisfy herself that her belief in Bain's guilt was correct. For months she and her husband, writer and publisher Trevor Reeves, immersed themselves in the case, drawing together many diverse and in some cases forgotten strands.
The result is IN THE GRIP OF EVIL, a book of over 170 drawings and commentary which provides a unique visual narrative and surprising revelations. Graphically chilling as we see behind the doors of 65 Every St., and emotionally rocking as we realise the trauma inflicted by the culture of Papua New Guinea, this book is a must read for all New Zealanders.
