ROISIN DUBH SHOW GOES ON DESPITE CATWALK FALL

Auckland designer Roisin Dubh fell from the catwalk during final checks for her show at L'Oréal New Zealand Fashion Week today and has been taken to Auckland hospital with a suspected broken leg.

Best known for her graphic prints and Celtic inspired patterns, Dubh was preparing for her afternoon group show when she accidentally stepped off the runway in the main show venue, The Great Hall at Auckland Town Hall - The Edge.

In the best traditions of fashion and show business, the show will go on in the hands of Dubh's assistant, Kate Martin.

As the designer was being wheeled to the ambulance she was issuing last minute instructions for more gold and yellow lighting in the green backdrop and was heard to say "remember only one button on the tops for the pleated skirts".

Dubh's son Gabriel accompanied her to the hospital.

Roisin Dubh has a retail store in Mt Eden. The label was launched in 1998. It means "dark rose" in Gaelic.

She began by painting clothing and selling through an art gallery. Each piece took about two months to complete.
