Valiant Efforts Save IWT Performance

Over 3,500 people turned out for a performance that was feared might never take place, during the first Impact World Tour show in Hutt City last night.

Strong winds and gales of up to 80 knots ripped off a new cover for the main stage the night before, and event organisers considered calling off the show at Hutt Recreation Grounds.

However, due to the dedicated efforts of the IWT tech crew, Team Xtreme was able to put on a superb performance as they smashed through concrete bricks and blew up hot water bottles until they burst.

“With all the threat of rain and bad weather there, we were delighted to see the responses”, said Mark Anderson, International Director for IWT, who was present for Team Xtreme's Hutt City appearance. “The grounds were filled with people and there seemed to be an excitement in the air. We’re looking forward to the next two nights.”

Tonight Island Breeze will follow with their stunning cultural performances as they showcase the Haka, the amazing Samoan fireknife dance, dances from Tahiti and many more Polynesian displays.

GX International will then finish off on Saturday night with a terrific multi-media extravaganza as dancers perform on stage, bikers and skaters fly off ramps and the FMX team soars above them all with their incredible stunts and jumps.

Next week Impact World Tour will be in Wellington, the largest city to date to host the nationwide tour. Huge crowds are expected at the evening events in the Basin Reserve, Wellington City, as well as at smaller events in the surrounding Wellington region.

Team performances will also take place throughout schools and prisons during that week, as performers share their personal stories and a positive message with their audiences.
