Jazz Blues Fest: Monica Trápaga & The Bachelor Pad
This energetic charismatic Sydney based jazz singer wows audiences with her musical diversity. It is impossible to say where Monica's musical influences lie. She likes the 40's and 50's but when she sings there's a fresh "now" sound that is truly original. Her backing band the Bachelor Pad is the creme-de-la-crème of Australia's jazz fraternity.
Monica's diversity is illustrated by her appearances on TV with roles in children's entertainment programmes, presenting, and many slots on TV shows like 'Good Morning Australia' and 'Midday' with Kerrie Anne. A stint as a dramatic actor and a corporate speaker and her wonderful charity work with Barnardo's and The Variety Club, to name but a few, illustrate her talent as an entertainer.
She has swung with John Morrison's Swing City, and then performed a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald with the same band. Monica has featured in every major Jazz festival in the country, entertained the Prime Minster and the Packer Group, culminating in the Lord Mayor's Mask party at the Sydney Opera House, broadcasting around the world.
A CD and video were produced for Kimberley Clark, and subsequently 4 children's videos and 5 CDS, and then a fifth video thru Buena Vista Home Entertainment, and a CD nominated for an Aria award.
Monica has had a long association with Walt Disney regularly appearing on TV shows and releasing mini books, tapes and videos. Look out for Monica on NZ tv as the host of Sky TV's new Disney Channel show 'Playhouse Disney'.
During her singing career, Monica, together with the Moochers released two CD's in the early 90s, entitled 'Too Darn Hot' and 'Cotton on the Breeze', both being great sellers and gaining great acclaim from the critics.
