Nzi To Sponsor Rigoletto
NZI is delighted to be the major sponsor of The NBR New Zealand Opera 2004 winter season of Rigoletto, which showcases Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi.
The winter season of Rigoletto will run between 27 May and 4 June 2004 in Auckland and 17 and 26 June 2004 in Wellington. “Supporting the arts in New Zealand is a great fit, as it enables us to reach our brokers and their customers as well as key business associates,” says David Smith, Chief Executive.
In a twist of fate, opera arrived on the shores of New Zealand around the same time as NZI first opened its doors for business in 1859.
NZI is now one of New Zealand’s most well known and longest-serving fire and general insurance brands, providing a broad range of personal, rural and business insurance products.
“NZI has a long reputation of leadership in the insurance market and as part of New Zealand’s leading insurance group, we are proud to be supporting the best in performing arts,” Mr Smith says.
Rigoletto is one of the world’s most well-known and loved operas. It is a tragic story of Rigoletto, a hunch back jester, whose task it is to find female prey for his employer, the Duke. Rigoletto soon feels the weight of a grave curse when the duke’s next victim is to be Rigoletto’s carefully protected daughter Gilda.
This production, led by Matthew Richardson, brings the most powerful and dramatic situations to the stage.
