The Colgate Games are essentially the South Island's Athletics Championships for kids aged between seven and 14 years, male and female. They are organised by the NZ Children's Athletics Association and supported by Athletics NZ.
Children compete in a wide variety of track and field events and there will be excellent photo opportunities during the three days of competition. Entry is by open invitation to all Athletics clubs around the country.
Many famous sports men and women competed in the games when they were growing up, including a number of All Blacks and Silver Ferns. Organisers are predicting nearly 1,000 competitors.
