Newtown Festival Road Closure & Traffic Diversion

Newtown Festival 2005 - Road Closure and Traffic Diversion

On Sunday 6 March 2005, The main street of Newtown will be closed and traffic redirected around other streets.

From 6am until 8pm, Riddiford Street between Rintoul Street and Normanby Street will be closed to all through traffic. The following Streets will also be closed

Green Street - Riddiford Street to the dead end, and

Constable Street from Riddiford Street to the entrance of Liqourland, Newtown

Access is available to Emmett Street. Access to Newtown Ave and Willson Streets is available from Daniell Street. Wilson Street from Riddiford Street and approximately 50 metres to the East is also closed.

Elsewhere traffic is diverted. Traffic to the eastern suburbs and southern Newtown is diverted down Owen Street which becomes "one-way" from Mein Street to Constable Street. Traffic from the Eastern Suburbs or southern Newtown travelling towards the city or to the festivval will turn right along Daniell Street to Mein Street. For this area, Daniell Street becomes "one-way" in a northerly direction.

The diversion means that Stagecoach will be operating Diesel busses and these will travel the respective routes. Temporary bus stops will be arranged. Passengers should ensure that the bus driver is aware of passenger needs in terms of pick-up and set-down.

Parking restrictions apply in Mein, Owen, Riddiford, Wilson, Daniel, Green, and Constable Streets

Traffic to and from Berhampore and Island Bay via Rintoul Street and Adelaide Road is unaffected.
