Shear Excitement in Te Kuiti
And they were off - 2227 sheep, former All Black Colin Meads, pop star Joe Cotton and bushman Billy Black scurried down the main street of Te Kuiti yesterday in the popular event "The NZ Shears Running of the Sheep". This was part of the Te Kuiti Muster and the 21st New Zealand Shearing Championships 2005. A fantastic time was had by all including the thousands of on-lookers lining the main street.
Fagan does it again... Last night David Fagan successfully defended his national title in the 21st New Zealand Shearing Championships. David Fagan faced stiff competition including; New Zealand's top shearers, a shearing team from Warrnambool in Australia and shearers from around the United Kingdom. Fagan won the New Zealand Open Shearing Championship Final shearing 20 sheep in a time of 13.52.06 minutes.
