Milo Causes Death At Pub

Milo Causes Death At Pub

Charismatic Irishman Milo O'Connor is causing audiences to die of laughter as he fakes his own death and holds his own wake at The Dog's Bollix Irish bar in Ponsonby, Auckland.

Auckland audiences have been flocking to see the poignant black comedy, Milo’s Wake and demand for tickets has meant producers have added two extra Saturday shows.

Milo O’Connor is alive and well. However since people only say good things about a man after he’s died, Milo’s decided to hold his own wake ahead of time.

In an Auckland Irish pub Milo gathers with family, friends, his favourite band, the Wren Buoys – and a few uninvited ghosts. But this won’t be the rousing tribute he planned…

Milo is a whirlwind of energy, a hilarious and charismatic bloke who has tried hard to fit into Kiwi culture and run a successful business – and now dreams of driving off into the sunset in a brand spanking new motor-home.

“… a rollicking production that wears its heart on its sleeve.” – NZ Herald

Milo is played by Peter Feeney (Cold Feet, Toy Love, Shortland St, Secret Agent Men) who leads an exceptional cast of Susan Brady ( The Women, Secret Agent Men) and talented newcomers Ashley Hawkes and Hannah Marshall. Musical director Peter Hobbs and Irish producer Conor McSweeney add their own unique edge and Irish craic.

This is the Auckland premiere of Milo’s Wake: the award winning 2001 play from the talented pens of Michael and Margery Forde. It is also the first production of the play in an actual pub.

Milo’s Wake is part of the 2005 ODDFELLOWS New Zealand International Comedy Festival and continues at The Dog’s Bollix Bar in Auckland on until May 26, Tues-Thurs 7.30pm, Sundays 4pm & now Saturday 14 May and 21 May at 4pm.Book at Ticketek on (09) 307-5000 or http://www.ticketek.com.
