Meridian Energy Gets Behind The NZ World Mountain Running Champs
Meridian Energy has put its weight behind Wellington and the sport of mountain running by becoming major sponsor of the New Zealand Mountain Running Champs in the capital this weekend.
Meridian Chief Executive Keith Turner says the New Zealand Championship and the World Mountain Running Trophy being held in Wellington later this year are a great opportunity for Wellington.
“Meridian is proud to support both of these events, which are a fantastic opportunity for Wellington to show off its creative and energetic personality to the rest of the country, and the rest of the world.”
And of course we’re also proud sponsors of the current world women¹s mountain running champion, Wellington’s own Melissa Moon.
Melissa Moon says the purpose built course up and around Mt Victoria is ‘absolutely world-class’.
“The runners on the day will have great fun getting to grips with it. A lot of the runners at the NZ Champs will be here again at the World Trophy in September, so the New Zealand runners get a great head start this weekend,” says Melissa Moon.
The New Zealand Mountain Running Championships will be held on Sunday, May 15, starting and finishing along Oriental Terrace. Racing begins at 8am.
