MIKA and the Plastic Maori to perform at Out Takes
MIKA and the Plastic Maori will be part of the dazzling lineup for the opening night celebrations of the Out Takes 2005 Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, tonight, 7:00pm at the St. James Theatre, Queen Street, Auckland.
This is MIKA’s first queer event opening for three years. “I’m delighted to have been invited to perform at the biggest and brightest event in New Zealand’s queer social calendar. Out Takes has been going from strength to strength over the years. I feel as plastic as Tapuware and as Maori as Titiwhai, or simply I feel much pleasure in my return to the gay takataapui whanau!,” says MIKA.
Other well known personalities in attendance include: Alison Mau (Prime TV), MP Georgina Beyer, Auckland Diva - Cindy of Samoa and Miss Ribena, drag queen supremo.
The Out Takes 2005 Gay & Lesbian Film Festival runs 26 May - 6 June (Auckland); 2 - 12 June (Wellington) and 9 - 15 June (Christchurch).
Ticketing, venue and full programme details are online at: www.outtakes.org.nz
Key festival sponsors and funders include Creative New Zealand, New Zealand AIDS Foundation and Orcon.
