Amateur theatre as you like it
If all the world’s a stage then Norfolk Island represents the globe when the island’s theatre festival opens at the end of September.
The Trans-Tasman trophy is at stake for the overall winner as amateur theatre groups from Australia and New Zealand battle it out on the boards.
The Norfolk Amateur Theatrical Society’s festival runs from September 25 to October 2 and this year, if there are sufficient entries, a special Youth Trophy is to be awarded to the best performance by a group under the age of 21 years.
To play their part, theatre groups are being encouraged to bring friends and family as supporters and to enjoy the multitude of leisure opportunities available on Norfolk Island.
Special seven night packages for theatre groups and their supporters start at NZ$697[1] per person ex Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. Included are seven nights’ twin share self-contained accommodation, seven days car hire, airport transfers, complimentary activities and more.
The Trans-Tasman Trophy is currently held by the Australian Community Theatre from Brisbane.
