Final Wellington gig for the year

Harriet and the Matches play their final Wellington gig for the year at Happy, Thursday 15th at 8pm with support from Giles McNeil featuring Rev.Black Keys. Harriet and the Matches formed in January this year after long-time musical companions Jessie Moss and Mea (Amiria Grenell) solidified what had been casual musical collaborations for over four years. Their energetic and original style is a delightful mix of ballad, traditional folk, reggae and soul inspired songs. Harriet and the Matches place a strong emphasis on tight vocal harmonies and driving rhythms pounded out with a traditional Irish Bodhran.

Although only together for nine months they have recorded an E.P “Ata Takahi”, toured the south island extensively with eleven gigs in fourteen days, and are about to embark on recording a full length album. With plans for touring the east coast of Australia in summer, including ‘The Woodford Folk festival’, this year has proved to be a successful one.

One half of Harriet and the Matches (Mea) is heading back to Christchurch to get stuck into her other love, acting. Harriet and the Matches will still perform but these rare appearances will now be few and far between. Catch them while you can!
