Thomas Has A Day Out At Britomart For His 60th

Auckland families sing Happy Birthday to a full-sized Thomas at the New Zealand 60th anniversary celebration of Thomas & Friends, at Britomart.
The event which was held at Britomart today, attracted over 13,000 young Thomas & Friends fans and parents. The celebration was organised by Planet Fun – distributors of the TOMY Thomas & Friends range in New Zealand – to officially mark the 60th anniversary of the much loved children’s characters.
Thomas the Tank Engine was originally written by the Reverend W Awdry for his son Christopher. Since then, Thomas & Friends has become arguably the most popular pre-school toy brand for children, and today the range includes toys, movies and a television series. The Britomart event officially celebrated 60 years since the Rev W Awdry wrote his first story.
Aside from an opportunity to meet with Thomas, there were also a wide range of free activities including Bulgy the Bus rides, bouncy castles, land trains, storytelling, Thomas & Friends train displays and competitions at the event.
