Collection Enriched By Generous Gifts To Art Museum
The art museum has recently been gifted several significant artworks and artefacts for the art museum permanent collection, testament to its strong curatorial output. These include a major painting by T.L. Drummond plus two letters to the artist as well as two of Drummond’s artist palettes gifted by the direct descendants of T.L. Drummond; a major sculpture work by Don Driver from the seventies, gifted by the artist in recognition of the art museums support.
Also local artists Laurence Berry, and the late Birchnell Delph and Servilla Bourdot are now also represented in the collection due to generous gifts to the art museum all of the works were gifted either by the artist, the artist’s families and descendents or by a local art collector.
We would like to express our gratitude for these gifts and bequests. In both small and large ways they add depth to our collection and the body of knowledge for future generations and enrich the cultural environment of the Whangarei region.
