Coco Solid: SXSW

Press Release

Coco Solid: SXSW

COCO SOLID has been invited to the prestigious South by South West Festival (SXSW). After their show at the Big Day Out they are now being distributed by Global Routes Music.

COCO SOLID is one of the 11 NZ bands to be invited to the SXSW festival. The festival is the biggest in the world and will host 1200 bands. The duo also has several exciting day shows planned while in Texas.

Their original album, DENIM & LEATHER was recently named in the top 10 albums of 2005 in the Sunday Star Times and on National Radio.

After a break from the local indie gigging scene, the Big Day Out kicked off a number of fund raising parties that will lead up to their trip in March. An electro night at the Fu bar sees support from the North Shore Pony Club on 11th Feb and an intimate show is planned at Musket Room on 1st March.

Global Routes Music has taken over distribution of the COCO SOLID back-catalogue which will now be available nationwide.

Auckland sound-clash fanatics, COCO SOLID (Coco & Erik Ultimate) can only be likened to Peaches for their highly sexed raps and lo-fi beats. Their sound: a bossy 80’s electro rap, mixing a subversive attitude with their trademark wit.

COCO SOLID’s mammoth electro/rock/rap/noize album, DENIM & LEISURE features 16 tracks: remixes, covers, new songs and a track recorded Live in Leipzig, Germany. 4 stars - NZ Herald.

COCO SOLID’s original album DENIM & LEATHER is still a cult find. “Smart as Stephen Hawking, sexy as Brigitte Bardot, full of monster techno riffs and truly seismic bass it’s the most exciting local album I’ve heard all year, and the funniest.” Grant Smithies, Sunday Star Times (NZ).
