Time for crazy laughs and madness, Wellingtonians! The festival trail continues to blaze as the ODDFELLOWS NZ International Comedy Festival kicks off three weeks of mayhem in the windy city from May 15.
In Wellington alone, there are 38 comedic acts and over 45 comedians strutting their stuff in 11 different venues. With a total of 130 Wellington performances there’s no excuse to miss out on the joke!
A special new event, ODDFELLOWS First Laughs will kick off the capital’s proceedings, held at Downstage Theatre, 7.30pm, May 15. Showcasing some of the fantastic talent on offer over the coming festival, this VIP event is a certain sell out. Some of our favourite comedians - The 4 Noels (AUS/NZ) and Dai Henwood & Rhys Darby (NZ) will feature, a number of international acts including Charlie Pickering (AUS) and Janey Godley (SCOTLAND) will be there and many more…
Keen for a belly laugh on Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights? Late Laughs at Downstage and Best of the Fest Late Show at the San Francisco Bathhouse (aka Indigo Bar) keep the best laughs rolling at night from 10pm onwards. MC’d by some outstanding comedians including Jeremy Elwood, Charlie Pickering (AUS) and Benjamin Crellin.
Don’t forget the ODDFELLOWS Billy T Awards! Wellington can proudly claim three of the five named nominees to be their own – Cori Gonzalez-Macuer, James Nokise and Jerome Chandrahasen. Be sure to check out their shows during the festival as well as another talented Billy T nominee Cameron Blair. Final judging will take place on June 4.
