Dunlop NZ To Sponsor Rallyfeste Weekend

Dunlop NZ To Sponsor Rallyfeste Weekend

Ruby Rallyfeste is pleased to announce that Dunlop NZ will sponsor the March 2007 weekend, which will celebrate four decades of New Zealand Rallying.

In announcing the sponsorship deal, Dunlop NZ’s Motorsport Manager Alastair Corbett, said, “Motorsport has always been an integral part of Dunlop’s heritage and success in New Zealand. Dunlop has established an impressive record here in all forms of motorsport, and part of that has been a long and successful association with Rallying.”

Corbett went on to say “We are naturally proud to be part of the Ruby Rallyfeste weekend, and hope our association will go some way to creating a significant event in New Zealand’s motorsport history.”

Dunlop’s involvement in New Zealand rallying began right at its inception back in the late 1960’s. At that time there was a limited choice of competitive tyres, but Dunlop was there with its M & S (Mud and snow) tyres which had been pioneered on the rapidly developing European Rally events.

Dunlop NZ went on to sponsor the National Rally Championship events in the 1980’s, and latterly has a very close relationship with the Dunlop Targa and Dunlop Classic Otago Rally events.

The Dunlop Rallyfeste will take place at Hamilton’s Mystery Creek Events Centre, over the weekend of 23rd – 25thth March 2007, and will take the form of a reunion of competitors and enthusiasts from the past four decades of New Zealand Rallying. The weekend’s celebrations will include a competitive special stage rally “event”, and a reunion “function” including displays and a dinner.

Further information including registration details are available on the Dunlop Rallyfeste website – http://www.rallyfeste.co.nz/
