Cromoli Brothers’ Vaudeville Extravaganza Voted “BEST COMEDY”! After their season at the Wellington Fringe where they garnered the BEST COMEDY trophy, The Amazing and Impermeable Cromoli Brothers are returning to the Bluenote 195 Cuba St, Thursday to Saturday, April 20, 21 and 22nd at 8 Pm! THE BEST OF THE CROMOLI BROTHERS is a must-see performance by the acclaimed duo St. John and Hasbro Cromoli, who will be bringing their unique brand of Vaudeville to the Wellington stage. Featuring 15 vignettes including The Rich, Dear Mary, I’m in a Gang Now, Pilot Talk, Cover Song, Sex, Shot in the Dark, Nude Beach, and, written especially for the Wellington audience, I Heart Peter Jackson, the show ranges from the poignant to the political to the absurd, and features original music performed on ukulele, glockenspiel and melodica.

“We’re pulling out all the stops for this one.” says St. John. “The wonderful thing about the show is that with over fifteen vignettes, if you are watching one and you don’t like it you can be assured it is going to be over soon. That’s not to say it is our intention to perform things people don’t enjoy, its just reassuring to know you aren’t going to be stuck in some interminable six hour version of Miss Julie. Not that there is anything wrong with a six hour version of Miss Julie. Actually, there probably is something wrong with a six hour version of Miss Julie. The vignettes average about four minutes each so the show is an hour in length. Some are very short."

In a unique twist, the audience is responsible for choosing the order of the plays. “This is one of our favourite aspects of the show. The audience gets to be involved and we have no control over what is coming next which is terrifying and ensures we stay spontaneous, which in turn ensures that we are very, very funny. As everyone knows terrified + spontaneous = very, very funny."

An added bonus is the Guest Appearance which will feature a different local performer each night. “We haven’t been able to go through all of the application tapes for the Guest Appearance yet as Hasbro is still recovering from our last performance in Wellington. He managed to get a sock puppet lodged in his larynx, very painful. We can tell you that we make a point of having no idea exactly what the person is going to perform, so we’ll be as surprised as you are. In the past we’ve had a Japanese wedding singer, modern dance by a mother of two, and a raccoon tamer. Like I said: terrified, spontaneous, very very funny."

WARNING: NUDE SOCK PUPPETS, HILARITY, DAVID BOWIE
