Toyota Grassroots Rugby Gets Bigger
“Everyday People”
Toyota GrassRoots Rugby is back on TV screens in 2006 with a season extended from 10 weeks to 16 weeks beginning May 3. It also has a great new time slot on SKY Sport 1, Wednesdays at 7:30pm, and a new free-to-air partner, Prime Television.
In its fifth year of production, Toyota GrassRoots Rugby televises premier & senior club rugby matches from New Zealand’s 600 rugby clubs covering Cape Reinga to Bluff, as well as social grades matches including kids rugby.
Rugby is the thing we do in New Zealand and nobody knows it better than GrassRoots commentators Ian Jones (Kamo) and Richard Mason (Mase).
For Ian Jones, filming Toyota GrassRoots Rugby is a weekly reminder for him about his love of the game.
“It’s great to see characters develop, untold stories told and new stars emerge. That’s what makes GrassRoots special.”
The iconic history and role of New Zealand club rugby is explored through Toyota GrassRoots Rugby’s stories featuring club heroes, legends, traditions and anniversaries, which will highlight everyone from coaches through to the passionate team uniform washer.
Toyota GrassRoots Rugby is produced by Denise Bell and Marie Veitch of GVTV.
