The comedy sensation returns for another year!
Wellington’s funniest improvisers pit themselves against each other in a battle of wits with the audience as judge, jury and (possibly) executioner. More real than reality TV, this is comedy the way you want it – stand up, sit down, lie about – you choose.
This year’s ODDFELLOWS New Zealand International Comedy Festival sees the return of one of the country’s favourite improvised comedy formats – Theatresports. Teams of Wellington’s top comedians take on each other in a series of rueling comedy scenes to determine who is truly Wellington’s funniest. To ensure everything is fair and above board it is the audience who provide all the suggestions and help with the scoring.
Imagine a live version of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” with twice the number of performers and twice the amount of audience input and you have a basic idea of what to expect.
As well as a line-up of established performers and new improv stars audiences will get a chance to see Greg Ellis – a month before he leaves Wellington to represent New Zealand at the 1st Theatresports World Cup in Germany.
