Burton New Zealand Open Announced
The world’s top snowboarders will transform Lake Wanaka into a high energy, action-packed snowboarding meccca when the Burton NZ Open returns to Snow Park NZ on 3-5 August.
Over the last four years, the Burton NZ Open has come to represent the pinnacle of snowboarding in New Zealand and the Southern Hemisphere and this year will be no different. With the promise of Olympic gold medallists and world champions in the field, the three days of halfpipe, quarterpipe and slopestyle action are destined to be the most spectacular snowboarding showcase of the season.
New for this year are the Gravis Open Sessions – four nights of New Zealand’s finest musical talent. After an exciting day of competition on the hill, Lake Wanaka’s town centre will rock to the beats of New Zealand’s urban roots, rock, hip hop and drum ‘n’ bass scenes at four full-on after parties from 2-5 August at the Lake Wanaka Centre.
Reuben Yeoman, event organizer, said, “The New Zealand Open is the first stop of Burton’s Open series before it moves on to Australia, Japan, Europe and the USA. We’re able to bring new ideas to the table and try new things because of our size, energy and the receptivity of the local scene.”
