Kiwi World Gliding Ace defends title at World Champs
Kiwi and World Champion Glider Pilot John Coutts is defending his title against 114 competitors from over 30 gliding nations at the 29th World Gliding Champs at Eskilstuna, Sweden.
Coutts, flying a German designed ASW 27 with a 15 meter wingspan took a commanding lead for the first three days averaging 106 KPH over the 428 kilometer course set for the day. Yesterday however Coutts slipped in placing due to a land-out 50 kilometers from the finish.
Aucklander John Coutts is considered one of the most intelligent and aggressive glider pilots in the world and is expected to retain his title when the championships end on June 17 th.
