Nelson Arts Festival Friends Package Takes Off
Making Friends
This year's Nelson Arts Festival, set for October 13-23rd is making friends faster than a kid with a big bag of lollies!
In a bid to generate festival spirit the festival is offering $60 worth of free tickets to people who become Festival Special Friends.
"We're calling on Nelson arts lovers and out of town supporters to become our friends," says Nelson City Council Festivals Director Annabel Norman. "We have devised this plan as a way for businesses and individuals to support the festival at a level they can afford - and to see the fantastic array of shows we're offering this year."
Ms Norman said the initial response had been better than expected, both at the Everyman and on line.
"People might think we're giving too much away but we want to draw more people out to several shows over the ten days of the festival and create the buzz that it's spring and it's festival time," she said. "Buying friends' packs is also a great way for Nelson people to invite their friends to town for the festival, just like they did for the WearableArt awards."
Becoming a 'Special Friend' of the festival costs $120, and gives a return of $180 worth of show tickets as well as a newsletter and invitations to special festival events. A lower price of $65 offers $85 worth of shows, meaning a $20 saving on tickets.
