Weird And Wonderful Weet-Bix Secrets

For immediate release: October 2006

Sanitarium Seeking Weird And Wonderful Ways With Weet-Bix - Kiwis expose their WEET-BIX secrets-

Kiwis have come out in force to share their WEET-BIX secrets in a competition being run by Sanitarium to celebrate seven decades of WEET-BIX.

The competition was launched two weeks ago and seeks to find the most unusual way in which New Zealanders have eaten their WEET-BIX.

Tanne Andrews, WEET-BIX senior product manager says the competition has received a fantastic response so far but there is still time for more New Zealanders to enter.

"WEET-BIX has been New Zealand's favourite breakfast cereal for 70 years and virtually every Kiwi has eaten it at some stage, so we look forward to receiving many more quirky entries."

WEET-BIX has been a part of the New Zealand diet for more than 70 years and it has been eaten in a range of different ways, and not just for breakfast. The All Blacks are regular WEET-BIX eaters and have eaten them in some unusual ways with Andrew Hore eating WEET-BIX dry with Tabasco sauce and Rico Gear enjoying eating WEET-BIX with ice-cream for dessert.

A range of interesting and unusual entries have been received for the competition so far. For example, Leanne Warnock of Ngaio in Wellington suggests placing two WEET-BIX in a breakfast bowl and pouring a large cup of milky coffee over the top; and Debbie Sweet of Maungaraki, Lower Hutt says she used to enjoy a cold Milo drink with crushed WEET-BIX in it as an after school snack.
