Cerebos Gregg’s Roasts Up Success At Coffee Festival

Cerebos Gregg’s, New Zealand’s largest coffee roaster, tonight came out tops at the Wildbean Cafe© Coffee Festival and Awards at North Harbour Stadium winning the Supreme Award for Orb coffee. Over 60 roasters from around New Zealand entered the Awards in a bid to win titles like ‘Best Espresso’, ‘Best Flat White’ and ‘Supreme Winner’.

Cerebos Gregg’s was rewarded for their dedication to great coffee by not only winning the Supreme award but also:
Gold – Best Filter, Robert Harris
Gold – Best Supermarket Plunger, Robert Harris
Gold – Flat White, Orb
Bronze – Best Decaffeinated Coffee, Robert Harris
Bronze – Flat White, Bruno Rossi

Scott Pepler, Cerebos Gregg’s Master Blender, says “Cerebos Gregg’s has a longstanding passion for great coffee. It is fantastic that we have been recognized in so many fields for our constant and consistent dedication to development and excellence.”

New Zealand has a thriving coffee industry and the development of the Coffee Awards ensures the ongoing professional development of the industry.

Instaurator, Chief Judge for the New Zealand Coffee Awards, says, “It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to construct a blend that stands out from the crowd. New Zealand’s coffee market is quite unique and vibrant with its boutique roasters; there is a lot of creativity.”

A panel of 12 judges from New Zealand and overseas judged over 200 coffees for the Awards. The judging is very demanding on the judges as their palate must always pick-up the subtle differences.

The Wildbean Cafe© Coffee Festival and Awards is held for the last day tomorrow, Sunday 12 November from 9am. The Festival also hosts the National Barista Awards brought to you by Robert Harris which today named Carl Sara of Muffin Break, Christchurch as the top barista in the country.
