New Home for NZ Academy of Sport North

On 22 November, the NZ Academy of Sport North (NZASN) will move its primary base of operation to the Millennium Institute of Sport and Health.

This will enable development of the next stage of NZASN’s high performance ‘Centre of Excellence’ at the Millennium Institute.

The opportunity arose as a result of North Harbour Rugby moving to North Harbour Stadium, allowing NZASN to expand its existing operations at the Millennium Institute.

“We are very pleased to welcome the Academy to the Institute. Their move will mean that more sports, their athletes and coaches will have access to our world class facilities and be able to benefit from each other's and the Academy's expertise" said Millennium Institute CEO Mike Stanley.

“We plan to work with the Millennium Institute and our other consortium partners to develop a world-leading Centre of Excellence for New Zealand high performance sport, and this is a significant step in that direction” said NZASN CEO Pete Pfitzinger.

Key members of the NZASN team who work closely with athletes, coaches, and sports will now be based at the Millennium Institute, including CEO Peter Pfitzinger, Coach Support Manager Graeme Robson, Performance Services Manager Martin Dowson, along with key sport science and medicine, coach support, and athlete development (ACE) specialists.

NZASN will also provide areas for national sport organisations high performance personnel, and rooms for athlete and coach consultations at the new premises at the Millennium Institute.

NZASN has four consortium partners – Millennium Institute, AUT, University of Auckland and WINTEC – and is part of SPARC’s high performance network providing support to elite athletes and coaches.
