Geekzone Sponsors Summer Of Code In Wellington

January 26, 2007— Wellington, New Zealand

Geekzone, the most popular technology site in New Zealand according to Nielsen/NetRatings is pleased to announce it is sponsoring a Summer of Code session, featuring Google's Chris DiBona.

DiBona, Google’s Open Source Manager, will talk at the Summer of Code at a special session sponsored by Geekzone. He famed for his work on community sites like Slashdot which he edited
before joining the search engine giant and is also the originator of Google's Summer of Code, the event that inspired the Wellington meet.

The Summer of Code is organised by Creative HQ, in partnership with Victoria and Massey Universities together with Positively Business Wellington and The Foundation of Research and Science Technology. It lasts of the summer break for students, from November 2006 until February this year, and aims to provide real-world experience that will help coders to the start-up stage.

DiBona will speak on February 7 starting at 11.30am through 1pm. The session will take place at Victoria University in the Old Government Buildings, LT3 (Wellington).
