Craftwerk - Robots Can't Love
Craftwerk - Robots Can't Love.
CraftWerk is set to hit Wellington on Thursday February 15th. This all evening, shopping, rocking, anti-valentines bonanza will take place from 5.00PM – 9:00 PM at The Southern Cross in Able Smith Street.
Get excited by one-of-a-kind handmade creations by over 2 dozen inventive and insanely talented craft kids from the Wellington region and across the country. Grab a drink from the bar and get in the mood (to shop!) with music performed by some of NZ's hottest bands, while browsing hundreds of handcrafted wares including jewellery, vamped up vintage clothing, silk-screened tees, handbags, chic badges, cupcakes, original zines and magazines, funky cards, the best gear for babies and more.
Take a break from shopping and hit the dance floor while enjoying music performed by 'The Airports', Hamilton's 'Dynamo Go', and of course what anti-valentines celebration would be complete with out 'The LoveHaters'.
CraftWerk takes the best elements of going to see a live band and shopping and mixes it all together.
Craft fairs may conjure up images of little old
ladies with blue hair selling tea cozies and Sacramento
potholders, but CraftWerk serves up everything but the
ordinary. The vendors may well have blue hair, but they are
young, vibrant and out to re-invent crafting. Many Vendors
(like CraftWerk founder Heather Barnes with her woolly
crochet creations that include skulls, deformed bunnies,
vagina's and body organs) set out to turn old ideas on their
head, adding irony and whimsy to the spirit of
entrepreneurship, community and creativity.
CraftWerk
visitors share an appreciation of handmade items. "It's
really meaningful to buy something from a person who has
made it, It makes the item far more special."
Whether you are looking to support local artists, to buy environmentally friendly products or for a personal gift, shoppers at CraftWerk will find the unexpected.
