PEREGRINE WINERY, QUEENSTOWN

Taking the stage once more as THE summer event of choice, Peregrine Fresh Air brings the best of New Zealand music to Queenstown on Saturday 3 March 2007.

While Peregrine Winery provides a backdrop of sweeping vistas, a lush, fully grassed amphitheatre and a guaranteed limited capacity, Christchurch’s Fabel Music bring the cream of New Zealand’s musical acts to the Central Otago region.

Peregrine Fresh Air organiser and Fabel Music Co-Director Karyn South says, “We’re so pleased to be bringing another fantastic line-up to the Peregrine stage this summer. It’s the only South Island appearance for most of the bands this summer and we know how much Central people like to party – we’ve been coming down and doing it with them all winter – and we’re looking really forward to doing it outdoors and in the sunshine.”

This year Shapeshifter will step up for a cranking set: taking to the Peregrine stage following the phenomenal success of their album release tour which earned them Best Live Act, Best Album and Best Single at the 2006 bNet Awards. On the heels of their sublime shows with the country’s most talented orchestra players, the pioneers of live electronica grace this venue for what is sure to be a cranking full length dance show for your evening entertainment.

Kora guarantee an electric live act. Widely regarded as one of the best live bands in the country, Kora has the entire nation waiting with baited breath for the release of their first full-length album. After months of recording Kora are ready to hit the summer stage with all of their accumulated performance energy. Touted as a powerhouse of rhythm and harmony, Kora are set to ignite our country’s music scene this season – be at Peregrine to see what all the hype surrounds!

epsilon blue: Described as New Zealand’s most luscious dance music provider, epsilon blue has been delivering aural bliss to clubs, festivals and private parties for a number of years. As a tribute to the beautiful Peregrine site epsilon blue will make what is now a rare public appearance, and will be the debut performance of his highly anticipated next album. His mission: to provide the most flavoursome and relaxing tunes to ease you into the breathtaking surroundings.
Recloose sees internationally acclaimed US producer Matt Chicoine, aka Recloose, who relocated to the Land of the Long White Cloud seven years ago make a grand appearance. His latest album, ‘Hiatus on the Horizon’, is receiving rave reviews the world over. Collaborating with the best of Wellington’s talent, the Recloose Live Band is a dance funk phenomenon not to be missed: featuring Recloose himself on sax and keyboards along with Lisa Tomlins (Rhombus), and a host of Wellington’s finest. Recloose joins the Fresh Air 2007 line up offering a set that promises to be great for a groove, or just sitting back and enjoying a quality dose of summer sounds.

And to broaden your palette: introducing…Pig Out: Fresh new UK/NZ sensation Pig Out formed in Christchurch in March 2006. Their debut album ‘Club Poems’ was rated 5 out of 5 by Real Groove Magazine: “Out of nowhere, New Zealand’s finest live dance-punk band have made the best techno album to come out of this country ever…” Making their debut appearance in Queenstown Pig Out is definitely something to get your ears around.
