Dominion Finance Sign On
Dominion Finance will be naming rights
sponsor of the National Basketball League (henceforth known
as the Dominion Finance NBL) for the next two years.
The announcement comes as significant boost to the league, which tips off on March 8 and is shaping as one of the most exciting in the competition’s 26-year history.
Dominion Finance will bring a substantial cash contribution to the competition as well as a reputation earned over more than half a century. Specialising in property financing, it is one of the few finance companies in New Zealand listed on the NZX main board.
“Basketball is a great, dynamic sport that appeals to a wide range of people around New Zealand, especially the young, ” says Dominion Finance chief executive Paul Cropp. “We are proud to be associated with this kind of activity, and to promote health and fitness through sport at a national and community level.”
Dominion Finance has previously supported Counties rugby and the arts through sponsorship.
Basketball NZ chief Bryn McGoldrick is delighted with the
new partnership.
“Dominion Finance sees the reach
we’ve achieved throughout New Zealand, and understand we
can and do make a difference in our communities.
“The Dominion Finance NBL, whilst a professional league, is also very much community focussed and will deliver on the outcomes Dominion Finance want from the partnership.
“We congratulate the team at Dominion Finance for the community spirit they are demonstrating, and welcome them to our family of sponsors and supporters.”
The Dominion Finance NBL begins with a clash between historical rivals – the Auckland Stars and Century City Wellington Saints – but will be prefaced by the pre-season “blitz”
