Race-O NZ Launches New Online Racing Game

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Race-O NZ Launches New Online Racing Game With Two Guaranteed $1 Million Jackpots

AUCKLAND, Wednesday February 21, 2007 - New online betting company Race-O New Zealand today revealed its hand for the long-term future of horse racing in this country with the launch of two guaranteed $1 million jackpots.

The first jackpot is to be available for this Saturday’s game; featuring the Robin Duke of Bedford Matamata Breeders Stakes race and then the following Saturday will feature the New Zealand Derby at Ellerslie.

The recent launch of Race-O in New Zealand (www.raceonz.com) introduces an exciting and interactive betting concept to punters and lottery players who may have little or no knowledge of horse racing.

From the convenience and comfort of their own PCs, players can select from a range of game options. They can choose specific horses from the featured races, pick their own favourite numbers, i.e. (birthdates), or simply request a “Quick Pick” lucky dip bet.

The single jackpot bet is $2, however players can choose multiple selections on a single ticket if they wish. If more than one person chooses all the winning numbers, then the jackpot is shared. Consolation payouts are also paid for those picking six or seven winners.

Mr David Allen, the chief executive of Race-O NZ, says the launch of Race-O in New Zealand is a personal triumph for its founders and investors who devised the original concept more than 10 years ago.

“The launch signifies a new era in gaming and online inter-active betting in this part of the world,” he explained. “Race-O offers small-stake, big return lottery style betting using actual horses races instead of just balls or other traditional betting games, which are completely based on chance alone.

“The industry has been crying out for ways to increase horse related gaming revenues. We are committed to the industry in New Zealand and at the same time providing New Zealanders with a fun and easy way to play the races and earn life-changing jackpots. The flow on benefits will bring a new stimulus to horse racing for the first time in many years.”

It is envisaged at this stage that 50 per cent of the profits from Race-O New Zealand will flow directly back in to New Zealand racing – a decision which will provide an unequivocal incentive for the industry to actively support the Race-O concept, according to Allen.

Race-O has recently hit the news headlines in the United Kingdom where the jackpot has reached one million pounds. It was officially launched there in November last year following extensive trials of its betting engine and secure banking systems.

The world leading technology platform that was developed for Race-O has exclusively used New Zealand ingenuity and suppliers. Today it is capable of settling 20 million bets in less than 65 seconds.

Mr Allen said it was Race-O New Zealand’s intent in the future to become the pre-eminent site for lottery style games based on real NZ sporting events.

“The benefit to the NZ racing industry is that the games can feature a range of sports and be played by anyone around the world, growing the profit return potential that flows back into the industry.

The Matamata meeting brings additional exposure to Race-O gaming through the Breeders’ Stakes sponsor, Henrietta, the Dowager Duchess of Bedford, who is an active supporter Race-O and its stated ambition of providing new sources of funds into horse racing.

Founders and Investors of Race-O include Sir Patrick Hogan, CBE, the leading horse breeder in New Zealand and champion trainer David O’Sullivan, OBE, 11 times champion horse trainer in New Zealand, to name but a few.
