Negotiations on 2008 Competition
Media Statement 26 February 2007
Netball New Zealand is in negotiations to finalise details of the shape of the enhanced elite competition for 2008. Due to commercial sensitivities NNZ is unable to comment on further detail.
The National Bank Cup competition was reviewed in 2006 by PricewaterhouseCoopers in conjunction with key stakeholders including regions and franchises. The review provided independent confirmation the competition needed to be re-shaped for 2008 and beyond.
NNZ confirmed with franchises and regions late last year the three potential options and provided a time-line which NNZ is continuing to work towards.
NNZ expects to announce the new competition format in mid-March after meeting with the Franchise and Regional Chairs.
