Auckland Kids Have the Opportunity to Train Free With the Vodafone Warriors
- Western Union and Vodafone Warriors running Football Fun Clinic at Pasifika -
Auckland, New Zealand, 28 February 2007 – Western Union® is offering 100 lucky Auckland kids the chance to learn key rugby league skills from the Vodafone Warriors at a free football clinic.
The Western Union Football Fun Clinic will be held from 12 – 2pm on Saturday 10 March 2007, at the Pasifika Festival at Western Springs.
The free clinic is open for all children aged from 9 to 15 years old, and will teach non-contact skills suitable for children, regardless of ability or gender.
During the clinic Vodafone Warriors players will lead children in sessions on passing, stepping and dotting down over the try line. Kids will also get the opportunity to have their photos taken with the players and get autographs.
David Chin, Western Union’s director, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, says: “Western Union is a proud sponsor of the Pasifika Festival and the Vodafone Warriors. The Football Fun Clinic allows us to combine two great sponsorships, while encouraging the kids of Auckland to get active and learn new skills.”
Richard Howarth, sales and marketing manager for the Vodafone Warriors says: “The players are really looking forward to running this clinic with Western Union and meeting kids from across Auckland. We’re hoping the clinic will help foster a whole new generation of rugby league stars in New Zealand.”
Registration for the Western Union Football Fun Clinic can be completed online at www.westernunion.co.nz. Spaces are limited to the first 100 children, so early registration is encouraged to avoid disappointment. Entries close on Monday 5 March.
All participants will require parental consent, and a parent or caregiver will need to accompany them to the event.
In addition to the Football Fun Clinic, Western Union will also provide visitors to the Pasifika Festival with information and special offers on the company’s range of money transfer services, including the convenient Western Union Gold CardSM which offers faster transfers and free phone time credit.
