Richie Mccaw Teams Up With Catwalk Trust

Top New Zealand rugby player Richie McCaw has joined other high profile patrons helping the CatWalk Trust raise funds for spinal cord injuries.

The CatWalk Trust announced Richie's patronage during a fundraising gala dinner at the Auckland Cup Charity Ball at Sky City last night.

Richie joins other sporting greats supporting the CatWalk Trust; international patron and current World and European eventing champion Zara Phillips, and New Zealand based patrons Sir Brian Lochore, Dion Nash, Aaron Slight and Lance O'Sullivan.

CatWalk Trust founder Catriona Williams says it's a real coup getting such an iconic Kiwi on board.

"Having Richie's support will help us raise our profile to help raise funds to find a way to get people out of chairs and on to legs," says Catriona.

"We are so lucky to have such high profile patrons, but our fundraising comes from all over New Zealand, and from all walks of life, and we wouldn't be getting closer to a cure without them all."

Richie has found time in his busy rugby schedule to lend his support to the CatWalk Trust.

"Spinal cord injuries are a serious business, and I'm really happy to lend my support to the CatWalk Trust to help raise funds to find a cure in any way I can," says Richie.

Launched in May 2005, the CatWalk Trust was founded by former New Zealand equestrian international Catriona Williams herself confined to a wheelchair following a riding accident.
